Upskill your career as a Building Operator with a Building Operator Certification through the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

The Building Operator Certification (BOC) is the nation’s leading competency-based training and credentialing program for building engineers and maintenance personnel. Graduates make their buildings more comfortable, efficient and environmentally friendly, thanks to skills they master in the classes.

Building Operator Certification Level I is a nationally recognized certification program providing building operators with the knowledge and skills to improve the energy-efficient operation of commercial facilities.

74 total hours (includes in- and out-of-class time)
12 weeks
8 classes, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Our customers and trade allies are eligible for up to a 100% discount on the course. Participants will need to pay $500 up front; PPL Electric Utilities will cover the remaining $1,395. Incentive increases, new measures and program enhancements

Direct Discount Program:

As of July 1, 2024, we increased incentives on interior lighting and energy-efficient equipment from $0.10/kWh to $0.15/kWh. In addition to the incentive increase, bulbs and tubes now qualify for an incentive through the Direct Discount Program. Check our website for updated marketing materials reflecting these changes. Changes to Instant Discounts for Lighting Program

For the Instant Discounts Program, pre-approval is only required for interior projects receiving an incentive of over $20,000, an increase from the previous $3,000 requirement. There is no pre-approval requirement for exterior lighting projects. Please check for updated marketing materials reflecting these changes on our website. Incentive increase for custom projects

Lower the cost of upgrading equipment with higher incentives. Custom projects, including solar and CHP, will now receive an incentive of $0.08/kWh, an increase from $0.06/kWh for customers and $0.03 for solar and CHP. If you have any questions, please reach out via email.
